The Humanities and Communication Magnet Program provides unique and challenging learning opportunities in a three-year program for one hundred sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students. Designed around a strong interdisciplinary humanities program, this magnet focuses on developing students' ability to use language and media effectively to present results of their academic inquiry within Montgomery County Public Schools Program of Studies. The Humanities and Communication Magnet has three areas of concentration:

Writing, Media Production, World Studies

Eastern Middle School provide unique opportunities in the humanities in collaboration with many professionals, including The George Washington University Museum Education Program. Students receive behind-the-scenes tours at museums, galleries, and other facilities in the Washington area. They also participate in publication and broadcasting experiences, including a five-day program in New York City at the beginning of eighth grade. Students taking a foreign language have the opportunity to travel to Spain or France as part of an educational exchange.
